TRUSTS, ESTATES, & PROBATE | CORPORATE LAW | REAL ESTATE

The law is in Sam’s blood as his father was a lawyer. He saw early on how a good lawyer could make a difference in people’s lives and decided to follow that path. Initially, Sam was a trial lawyer, appearing primarily as a prosecutor in every forum of court in New Hampshire, and representing a diverse client base, from criminal to family, landlord/tenant and business cases. After an extensive and successful career in this area of law, he decided to transition to his current role, which focuses on trust and probate work, estate planning, condominium, real estate, small business needs and much more. “I like the law because it is thought-provoking and challenging,” says Sam. “But my greatest satisfaction comes from knowing I am helping someone. I feel like I am doing something worthwhile. Even on tough days, the work keeps me going because I know what I do matters.”

Before joining Seven Rivers Law, Sam was an Associate Litigation Attorney with Hoefle, Phoenix, Gormley & Roberts, PLLC of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Prior to that, he served as Strafford County Assistant County Attorney, representing the State of New Hampshire. Sam also worked in non-legal areas for a time, operating as an insurance adjuster. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Civil Procedure for the Mason Enhancement Program for the University of District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law, and as an Adjunct Professor in the Justice Studies Department for the University of New Hampshire. Sam was admitted to the Maine Bar in October of 2019 and the New Hampshire Bar in 2012.

Sam received his Bachelor of Arts in Modern American History from the University of New Hampshire, and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law.

When not engaged in legal work, Sam serves as a volunteer judge at regional collegiate mock trial competitions. He also previously served on the Board of Trustees for Heronfield Academy. Sam is a dedicated triathlete and road runner and enjoys competing in races ranging from 5Ks to Ironman distances. He makes his home in Rochester, New Hampshire with his wife, Sharon.

Seven Rivers Law has a new staff member, Fergus! Fergus came to the team weighing in at 5 ½ pounds and only 8 weeks old. Fergus has grown-up as a very important part of our legal team.

Fergus delivers humor, care, and snuggles. He is a real team player!

During office hours he can be found guarding the top of the stairs, playing with his toys, taking a walk outside to gather sticks, supervising vendors, and greeting the public. At the end of the day, he is eager to hop in the car and go home to play with this sister, Laika, to unwind from the pressures of a hard workday.

Penelope, Canine Resources Administrator

Seven Rivers Law has added a new canine member!  Penelope!  Penny came to our team as a puppy and has grown-up learning the ropes of office work from Fergus.

Penny holds a part-time position at Seven Rivers Law.  She divides her time between learning the law and all things financial.

On the days that Penny is at Seven Rivers, she can be found in the gated area of our first floor or in her dad’s office.  Penny is still very young and finds the guidance from her office chairman, Fergus, a great help.

When not at the office Penny loves to play with toys, run and play with her humans Sam and Sharon.
